Tumakuru-Davanagere rail line: Min directs officials to invite tenders

UNION Minister of state for Railways V Somanna on Saturday directed railway officials to invite tenders for works on the Tavarekere-Hiriyur and Hiriyur-Chitradurga section of Tumakuru-Davanagere direct railway line with the district administration promising to hand over the land required for the project.
Deputy Commissioner T Venkatesh informed the minister that the land needed for the completion of the project will be handed over to the Railways soon.
Somanna said work on the Oorukere-Tavarekere and Bharamasagara-Tolahunase line is in the final stages of completion. This line will be commissioned by December end. Unlike in the past, railway projects are being completed in a time-bound manner.
Somanna directed Superintendent of Police Ranjith Bandaru to resolve minor problems that crop up during execution of the project work.
He said Rayadurga-Tumkuru and Tumakuru-Chitradurga sections will be commissioned by December 2027.
