CMC Prez Inspects Idols; Route Marches, Foot Patrols Conducted Ahead of Festival

In a show of force to clamp down on sales of Ganesh idols made from plaster of Paris (PoP), CMC president Sheela Dinesh, on Friday, paid a visit to the Kumbara Keri in the city, where traditional potters make Ganesha idols, and conducted an inspection to find out whether guidelines laid down by the government were adhered to or not.

She insisted that only Ganesha idols made out of mud must be used, and preparation and sale of PoP Ganesha idols is strictly prohibited. The City Municipal Council created a special pond in the Kotekere lake for the immersion of idols.
