BJP single largest party as MahaYuti sweeps local polls

THE BJP on Sunday emerged as the single-largest party in Maharashtra urban local body polls, winning 129 Nagar Parishads out of 288.
It also won amajority of municipal councillor seats across the state.According to the latest results, the Maha Yuti has consolidated its dominance. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP secured 51 and 32 Nagar Parishads, respectively. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) put up a weak show, with Congress winning 35 Nagar Parishads, Uddhav Thackerayled Shiv Sena nine and Sharad Pawar-led NCP eight. Smaller parties and independents won 24 Nagar Parishads. The BJP dominated the directly elected president posts of Nagar Parishads, winning 117 positions. Its allies Shiv Sena and NCP won
