Over the years, this fair has evolved into a grand celebration, symbolising the harvest season and Bengal's rich cultural heritage while offering an opportunity to explore the town of Shantiniketan
AFTER a four-year hiatus, Shantiniketan's iconic Poush Mela is set to return to its traditional form this December. Jointly organised by Visva-Bharati University and the Santiniketan Trust, the fair will once again be held at its historic location, the Purba Palli Ground, from December 24 to 26, 2024. The announcement came following a meeting at Visva-Bharati's central administrative office, attended by the interim vice-chancellor, university officials and members of the Santiniketan Trust.
This revival of the beloved fair promises to bring back the vibrant spirit of Shantiniketan and its deep-rooted cultural traditions.
