REINFORCING the deepening strategic ties between India and Mauritius, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced a special economic package of over $655 million for the island nation and witnessed the signing of seven key agreements spanning infrastructure, education, space, and maritime cooperation.
Speaking at a joint media briefing with his Mauritian counterpart Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Varanasi, PM Modi said, "India and Mauritius are two nations, but our dreams and destiny are one."
He underscored the emotional and civilizational depth of the relationship. Calling Mauritius "an important pillar" of India's 'Neighbourhood First' and Vision SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) strategies, Modi said, "We are not just partners, we are family."
