Farmers allege in a meeting that the factory at Chunchanakatte diverted cane to other units
DEPUTY commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy said on Thursday that the Sriram Sugar factory will resume sugarcane crushing to its full capacity from this kharif season.
Presiding over a meeting of farmers here, Reddy said the problem related to cane crushing by the factory has been addressed.
During the meeting, farmers alleged that the factory at Chunchanakatte crushed just 25,000 tonne of sugarcane as against 1.75 lakh tonne. The factory diverted cane to other units.
They sought to know the reason for the factory not crushing cane as per an agreement with them. They demanded that the district administration act against the factory management for creating problems for cane growers.
