Lokayukta raids Irrigation office: 2 caught taking Rs 1.45L bribe

IN a significant crackdown on corruption, Lokayukta officials raided the office of the executive engineer of the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL) in Nanjangud and caught two officials red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.45 lakh.
The accused have been identified as executive engineer (EE) K Ranganath and staff member Uma Maheshwar. They were apprehended while receiving the bribe from Abdul Aziz (40), a resident of Chikka Hole village in Chamarajanagar.
