Narasimharaja MLA says education must serve as a tool to teach humanity and help people live in harmony

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @Mysuru

Former Minister and Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait stressed that governments must refrain from imposing their ideology on the education curriculum. Speaking at the felicitation and district-level Best Teacher Award ceremony organised by the Department of Public Education on the occasion of Teachers' Day at Kalamandira on Saturday, Sait said that in today's world, education has been reduced to merely scoring marks.

"Education should be kept away from politics and the administrative system. It should serve as a tool to teach humanity and help people live in harmony with the laws of nature. Revision of the curriculum should not be confined to government systems alone, a separate committee should be formed. When I was the Primary and Secondary Education Minister, I revised math and science textbooks, which faced a lot of opposition," he recalled.
