Team of 30 briefed on potential landslide sites, inspections being carried out

- Prakash Samaga @ Udupi

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is gearing up to address monsoon woes in the district. The district administration briefed a team of 30 on the potential landslide sites and the inspections being carried out on those sites.

After the natural disaster across the district in 2018, the NDRF team has been deployed every year during monsoon. While the team usually comes to Kodagu in June, this year, they have reached by the end of May, following the request from the district administration. The team of 30 is ready to handle any untoward incidents across the district during the monsoon months and they specialize in rescue and relief works.

The 10th Battalion NDRF is positioned at Madikeri and stands prepared with essential safety gear and tools for immediate emergency response.

Their disaster management equipment includes life jackets, motor boats, rafts, searchlights, tree-cutting machinery, oxygen cylinders, ropes, stretchers, generators, and emergency medical supplies for rescue operations.

A dedicated vehicle has been allocated for reaching danger zones and the team, under NDRF Circle Inspector Harish Chandra Pandey's leadership, is monitoring the district situation.
