Man falls victim to online fraud, loses ₹58.26L trying to sell old coins

A MAN from Mangaluru has reportedly lost ₹58.26 lakh in an online fraud, while trying to sell old coins.
According to his complaint, it all started on November 25 when he was browsing Facebook around 11 am and came across an advertisement offering to buy old coins at a high price.
The complainant, who owned 15 old coins, contacted the WhatsApp number listed in the ad and sent photos of the coins. After reviewing the images, the fraudsters claimed they were willing to buy the coins for ₹49 lakh, but requested a ₹750 fee for RBI registration. The complainant transferred the amount via UPI the same day. But, the fraud continued as the complainant received further demands for additional payments.
