THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday revised upwards India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for the current financial year to 6.6% as against its earlier estimate of 6.4%.

The global fund said the forecast is on the back of strong growth, which will offset the impact of US tariffs on Indian shipments. In its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO), the agency lowered the growth forecast by 20 basis points to 6.2% for 2026-27. The Indian economy increased by 7.8% in April-June, the highest in five quarters, before the disruptive US tariffs were imposed.
