Dengue, Leptospirosis Cases on the Rise in Karkala Taluk

42 dengue, 17 leptospirosis cases have been reported in Karkala from Jan till date this year
Karkala taluk of Udupi district has witnessed a spike in monsoon-related diseases—dengue and leptospirosis. The surge in cases has prompted health officials and civic authorities to step up awareness and mitigation measures.
Many residents from both Karkala town limits and rural areas have been visiting primary health centers, taluk hospital, and private hospitals following the surge.
Intermittent rains have created favorable conditions for mosquito breeding, leading to an increase in dengue cases, while leptospirosis cases have also been recorded, health department officials clarified.
