Building mosques, churches difficult in DK, Udupi: Community leaders

Representatives from Muslim and Christian communities informed the Karnataka State Minorities Commission chairperson, U Nisar Ahmed, that constructing mosques and churches has become increasingly difficult in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, despite fulfilling all the necessary criteria.

The meeting, chaired by Nisar Ahmed at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Mangaluru on Saturday, was held to discuss minority community expectations for the state budget. S M Arshad, a Muslim leader, voiced concerns that objections to mosque construction are common, even in areas where no mosques currently exist. He also alleged discrimination in the allocation of land for places of worship and burial grounds.
