One of Vishnuja's friends told reporters in Malappuram on Monday that the victim had endured both mental and physical abuse from Prabhin, a 32-year-old staff nurse at Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital. Vishnuja's parents previously reported that Prabhin harassed her about her unemployment and criticised her physique, while also taunting her about the perceived inadequacy of the dowry he received.
