Unpaid dues: Distributors threaten to halt medicine supply to Kozhikode med college

THE supply of essential medicines and surgical equipment to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital is under threat as pharmaceutical and medical equipment suppliers have once again warned of an immediate halt to deliveries due to long-standing payment arrears.

Companies supplying stents and other critical items are owed approximately ₹35 crore by the hospital, sources said. Overall, suppliers have stated that outstanding dues totaling nearly ₹250 crore remain unpaid, some dating back as far as 10 months.

The distributors have issued a stern warning, indicating that unless immediate steps are taken to clear the pending payments, they will be forced to stop all supplies, potentially crippling operations at one of the state's busiest tertiary hospitals.
