Early Treatment Crucial for Leptospirosis: DMO

In the wake of an increasing number of leptospirosis cases reported in the last one month, district medical officer (DMO) Dr K K Rajaram has issued a warning to the public, urging them to seek immediate medical attention if they show symptoms of the disease.

Early diagnosis is critical, as leptospirosis can be fully cured if treated in its initial stages.

Commonly known as rat fever, leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that can be transmitted to humans through contact with the urine of infected animals, including rats, dogs, cats, and livestock. The bacteria, which contaminate soil and water, can enter the human body through cuts or abrasions on the skin.
