India Bloc Plans to Field Joint Nominee for V-P Poll

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will be moving strategically to field a joint Opposition candidate for the Vice Presidential (VP) election, determined not to repeat past missteps by the coalition of 17 political parties, which collectively decided to challenge the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) contestant in the 2022 contest.
Sources indicate that the bloc will announce its nominee only after the ruling NDA, led by the BJP, confirms its candidate. A meeting of the Opposition bloc leaders is expected soon to select a "consensus candidate" as they aim to contest a "spirited fight".
