The National Highway Samrakshana Samithi, spearheading protests to restart work on the Kochi-Dhanushkodi national highway in the Valara-Neriyamangalam section, has gained fresh hope after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan promised that the project's obstacles will be cleared soon.
The chief minister's promise came during a meeting in Thiruvananthapuram with a delegation from Idukki led by CPM district secretary C V Varghese, and including MLAs M M Mani and A Raja, CPI district secretary K Salimkumar, and Kerala Congress (Mani) district president Jose Palathinal. Discussions focused on the legal and administrative roadblocks that have brought the project to a standstill.
