38-Day Amarnath Yatra Begins Today Amid Tight Security Arrangements

The 38-day annual Amarnath yatra to the cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence Thursday, amid unprecedented security.
The yatra, which will start simultaneously from both the traditional Pahalgam route in south Kashmir and the shortest Baltal route in central Kashmir from July 3, will conclude on August 9 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
On Wednesday, a day before the start of the yatra, J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.
