IN his Independence Day address on Friday, CM Omar Abdullah wondered if "the killers of Pahalgam and their masters in the neighboring country (Pakistan) decide whether we will be a state again".
He announced the launch of a door-to-door signature campaign for the restoration of J&K's statehood. He became the first elected CM of the Union Territory of J&K to unfurl the tricolour and preside over the Independence Day function in Srinagar. He unfurled the national flag at the primary I-Day function at Bakshi Stadium. The scheduled cultural events were cancelled due to the Kishtwar cloudburst tragedy.
