UNIVERSITY Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has said the new draft regulation on recruiting assistant professors and vice-chancellors is designed to uphold merit and strengthen the governance of universities.
He said the 2025 regulations discontinue the Academic Performance Indicator based shortlisting and adopt a more qualitative approach. This new method will allow selection committees to assess candidates holistically based on their notable contributions and broader academ
