BELAGAVI police have formed three teams to probe a scam in which at least 15,000 women have been cheated of crores of rupees by micro-financiers.
BELAGAVI police have formed three teams to probe a scam in which at least 15,000 women have been cheated of crores of rupees by micro-financiers. The micro-financiers had sanctioned loans to the women beneficiaries by giving false assurances that they would get a subsidy amount for availing the loans.
Addressing a press conference in Belagavi on Tuesday, PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi said at least Rs 100 crore loan was granted to these women by several micro finance firms, many of which were headed by women.
