HE 1993 Japanese-Indian anime film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama, whose India premiere date was rescheduled from October 18, now has a new release date. The film will hit theatres in India on January 24.
Geek Pictures India is distributing the movie in India in collaboration with AA Films and Excel Entertainment. The animated film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dub along with the original English version. A trailer for the movie will also be released by on January 10.
Acclaimed screenwriter V. Vijayendra Prasad, known for films like Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and RRR, has overseen the creative adaptation of the new versions of the film.
Speaking about the release, Arjun Aggarwal, co-founder of Geek Pictures India, said: "Ramayana is not just a story—it is a legacy that continues to inspire people across generations. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama was screened in India at the 24th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 1993 but wasn't released in cinema halls. It became popular with Indian audiences upon its re-runs on TV channels in the early 2000s.
