Cabinet OKs ₹1,500 cr push for small BHIM-UPI deals

THE Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a ₹1,500-crore incentive scheme to promote BHIM-UPI (Person-to-Merchant) transactions below ₹2,000 in 2024-25.
An official statement said small merchant transactions using BHIM-UPI will receive an incentive of 0.15% per transaction value.
The government will pay this to the acquiring bank (merchant's bank), which will share it with the customer's bank, payment service provider bank, and app providers.
