Muniyappa: Will not cancel BPL cards of real beneficiaries

ADMITTING that 20% of BPL cards in Karnataka are with ineligible beneficiaries, Food and Civil Supplies Minister KH Muniyappa reiterated that the government will not cancel the cards of eligible beneficiaries.
Muniyappa told the Council on Monday that the State Government intends to streamline the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state.
Replying to MLA KA Tippeswamy, the minister said that the State Government has not removed any eligible BPL cardholder from the list.
Admitting that a few eligible cardholders might have been removed from the list, Muniyappa said that they can reapply and get the cards again.
