UNION Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, and New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi has alleged that the Congress party held the entire Parliament session to ransom for no valid reason and did not even allow its alliance partners to speak on major bills.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Joshi said, the issues raised to disrupt the parliamentary proceedings were non-pertinent, as years ago, the then Speaker had given a ruling that the issues related to a constitutional authority like the Election Commission of India (ECI) cannot be discussed in the House, as none would be there to reply to questions raised in the House. Moreover, the Supreme Court was hearing appeals pertaining to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, then how could it be discussed in the Parliament, he questioned.
