GODDESS fairs in Koppal villages are a throwback to the pre-Independence era. It is a spartan affair—no footwear, no tractors, no two-wheelers, no public buses, restricted use of mobile phones and no mixers in kitchens. And the most key aspect—no outsiders will be allowed during the fair day.

The Kinnal village, near Koppal, recently witnessed such a rare fair after 14 years.

The villagers requested the State Road Transport office not to ply any bus to the village for the five days when the grand affair was held.

The fair is held once in 14 years and the whole village wears a pre-Independence era look.
