Top Maoist leaders gunned down in AP

In a major setback to Maoist operations in Andhra Pradesh, three top leaders of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) were killed in an exchange of fire with the elite Greyhounds force in the dense forests near Kintukuru village in Devipatnam mandal of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Gajarla Ravi, alias Uday or Ganesh, a Central Committee member; Ravi Venkata Chaitanya, alias Aruna, East Division Secretary and member of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOB-SZC); and Anji, alias Narmadakka, a Maoist cadre from Chhattisgarh.
