In a first, Jharkhand to launch mining tourism

IN a first-ever initiative in India, the Jharkhand government is all set to launch a mining tourism project in the state.
The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) on Monday.
CM Hemant Soren initiated the idea after watching ancient mining techniques and Neolithic era remains in Spain's Gava Museum during his recent visit to Barcelona.
Jharkhand is renowned for its extensive coal, iron ore, and other mineral deposits.
The government plans to help the public appreciate the heritage of these mines and the mining process by promoting theme-based and sustainable tourism in the state.
