Couple running goldsmithery unit dies by suicide

A couple running a goldsmithery unit in Coimbatore city took their own lives at their residence on Thursday night.
Police said a suicide note stated they were reeling under debt burden.
The deceased were M Thirumurugan (47) and his wife, Pradeepa Ramani (40), who lived on Second Street in Amul Nagar, Indira Nagar, at Selvapuram in the city.
The police said the couple left a note stating they were trapped in a debt burden from their gold business and took the extreme step after sending their 17-year-old daughter to stay with relatives.
Thirumurugan was a goldsmith and also involved in gold merchandising. Together, they had established a goldsmithery unit in the locality.
