Soaring flight bookings and demand for star hotel signal a shift towards experience-driven festive travel, redefining how Indian citizens celebrate Deepavali

NDIA'S festive travel landscape is set for a transformation this Deepavali. Industry reports suggest that the festival may be shifting from a period traditionally dominated by homecomings to one focused on curated travel experiences.

According to the Adara Diwali Travel Trends 2025 analysis released by RateGain, international bookings from India have surged sharply compared to last year. Flight bookings to Doha rose by 350%, Bangkok by 210%, and Dubai by 149%, while long-haul routes such as London (94%) and Auckland (51%) also recorded substantial growth.

The report attributes this rise to growing affluence among Indian travellers and a renewed appetite for experiential holidays, with many families opting for international getaways instead of traditional visits to their hometowns.
