Wrap up panchayat polls in 3 months: HC to T'gana

THE Telangana High Court has directed the State government and the State Election Commission (SEC) to complete the process of conducting elections to local bodies and declare the results by September 30.
Justice T Madhavi Devi issued the order while hearing a batch of petitions filed by former sarpanches questioning the prolonged delay in holding local body elections.
The Court has imposed a strict three-month timeline, starting with 30 days for the State Government to finalize and announce reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies. Following this, the SEC has been given 60 days to conduct the elections and declare the results.
