DR Ryru Gopal, better known as the 'two-rupee doctor', was more than just a healer. He touched hearts with his compassion and ethical approach. In an era when the medical profession has come to be viewed as a money-spinning machine, this doctor stood out. Dr Ryru passed away at his home in Thana, Kannur, in the wee hours on Sunday. He was 80.
After doing his MBBS from Kozhikode Medical College, Dr Ryru worked briefly in a hospital in Kannur before opening a clinic in Talap, where he served the community for 35 years before moving to Thana.
