Punjab & Haryana HC directs barricades removal; closure caused traffic disruption
MORE than five months after the Haryana government sealed the border between Haryana and Punjab to prevent farmers from continuing their Delhi Chalo march, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday directed the Haryana government to remove the barricades at the Shambhu border within a week.
The Haryana government had set up barricades on the Ambala-New Delhi national highway in February when the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (NonPolitical) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced their march towards Delhi in support of various demands, including a legal guarantee for MSP.
Taking up a bunch of petitions, a division bench of Justice GS Sandhawalia and Justice Vikas Bahl asked the states of Punjab and Haryana to coordinate to remove the barricades. The court was hearing a PIL filed in February by Uday Pratap Singh.
