Ever since its introduction in 1951, the vehicle has gained a reputation for toughness and reliability, unmatched by any other vehicle on the planet and has become a favourite for both law enforcers and lawbreakers. In India, the vehicle has had a chequered history as well, and now the GR version joins the existing variant, bringing some extra features at a slightly higher price tag.
