THE Election Commission on Tuesday announced assembly polls for Maharashtra and Jharkhand with the former going to polls in single phase on November 20 and the later in two phase on November 13 and 20. The counting will take place on November 23.

Maharashtra is set to elect MLAs for 288 Assembly seats, which include 234 general, 25 reserved for ST, and 29 for SC.
As per the EC, there are 9.63 crore voters in Maharashtra, of which 4.96 crore are male and 4.66 crore female electorates. Of the total voters, 1.85 crore are young and nearly 21 lakh are first-time voters.
