In a bid to procure rice for free distribution under the Anna Bhagya scheme, the Karnataka government is in talks with several rice-growing states.
State Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held talks with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday. A team of officials from the state will visit Punjab soon.
Expecting regular rice supply from the Food Corporation of India, the state government decided to implement its ambitious Anna Bhagya scheme, which guarantees 10 kg of rice to BPL cardholders, on July 1.
