With Women's Hockey India League 2025, a first of its kind, starting soon, players and coaches share their hopes for the upcoming tournament
The women hockey players are finally getting their shot at club competition glory. The Women's Hockey India League (HIL) 2025, whose auctions happened in October 2024, will commence on January 12 with a match between Delhi SG Pipers and Odisha Warriors. The tournament will follow the round-robin format, wherein each team competes against every other team, until January 24; the final will be held on Republic Day.
Udita Duhan was the highest buy at the auctions when the Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers secured her in their squad for ₹32 lakh. Duhan, however, does not feel the pressure. "I wouldn't call it pressure. I got an opportunity and being the highest buy, I have a responsibility to give my all. So I feel responsible, not pressurised," she says.

IN a major order on the city’s public health infrastructure, the Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi government and the National Informatics Centre to study the feasibility of making data on availability of emergency and trauma-related facilities and beds in government hospitals available on areal-time basis in a mobile application, so that “patients, police personnel who usually deal with accident victims, ambulance providers, private hospitals, etc., can access it easily”.
