Curfew continues in Haldwani area, key suspect for violence held in Delhi

A curfew was imposed in the Muslim-dominated Banbhulpura in Haldwani following an outbreak of arson and rioting in the area. "The suspect, Abdul Malik who was tracked down in Delhi and brought back to Haldwani, is currently undergoing intensive interrogation by the police team as part of the ongoing investigation," the spokesperson said.

Abdul Malik, believed to be the mastermind behind the entire disturbance and violence, played a significant role in inciting the violence on February 8, when authorities were dismantling an unauthorised madrasa and prayer site in 'Malik ka Bagicha' in Banbhulpura.
