Why are Chatsworth’s roads marked so poorly?

I WROTE a while back about the poor markings on the M1 and the Hans Dettman Highway.

I need to go back because I missed out on something relevant. As I said in my earlier letter, the M1 and the Hans Dettman Highway are very busy roads. They connect sprawling Chatsworth Township with industrial Pinetown.
A considerable section of these two roads was left unmarked for several years. Only a few months ago the municipality got these roads marked. And whoever did it made a mess of it!
