Spectacular stuff on the racetrack

THE Durban July Handicap was won in fine style on Saturday by The Real Prince, ridden by Craig Zackey, a whisker ahead of favourite, Eight On Eighteen.

Great stuff! Equally thrilling, we presume, would have been the customary naked dash in the gloaming down the main straight.

The crowd were no doubt beside themselves with excitement.

Meanwhile, the damsels of the Pub With No Name, in Morningside, were on tenterhooks as Italy looked like making a second-half comeback against the Springboks, who seemed strangely disjointed and subdued after some good stuff in the first half.

But hats off to the Italians for a good and brave showing.

And hats off also, earlier in the week, to the Springbok Under-20s who came from behind against England with some splendid rugby to win.

Plenty of future talent is on its way, we can be sure.
