SHAMEFUL. It really is shameful, to say the least. That is one way to describe the mistreatment that has been afforded the reigning Confederation of African Football’s Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) champions, Banyana Banyana.

So high were the spirits in 2022 when Desiree Ellis and her troops brought home for the first time the Wafcon gong, they were dubbed the “African Queens”.
