Durban residents urged to assist in locating escaped baboon

RESIDENTS in Durban's Umbilo and Glenwood areas are being asked to keep an eye out for a baboon that has mysteriously appeared in the region.
baboon could have escaped from a local nature reserve.
This little juvenile baboon is believed to have hopped aboard a ship from Cape ‘Town and later disembarked at the Durban harbour.
"It's just a little juvenile, so it's no threat to anybody. It will not hurt anyone," said Carol Booth, coordinator, rescuer and caregiver at the Monkey Helpline.
She added, “There are people who believe in witchcraft, so they might think the baboon has been sent by witches. Which is not true”
The first sighting of the baboon was reportedly on a ship.
