The stylist is creating a playful escape for her family

At home with...Sarah CorbettWinder

If Sarah Corbett-Winder is throwing a house party, you want to be on the guest list. The fashion stylist and her husband Ned, founder of the gifting platform Not Another Bill, prioritise fun above anything else.

"We love nothing more than to have our friends over and entertain and just have wonderful, happy, great fun. The more dinner table stains, the better. Lots of wild parties, you know? This kitchen table has seen a lot, I am not going to lie," she tells me.

Donning oversized 1970s-style glasses, a banana print blazer from her very own Kipper tailoring brand and mustard-striped trousers, she is every inch the fabulous hostess.

Her penchant for a good time comes with a healthy dose of sentimentality. In fact, the table that she is referring to has been crafted from a large piece of oak, unearthed at her husband's family home in Wales. "It brings everyone together and it was very important that this was a key piece in the house. I think the kitchen is the heart of the house and this table has so many happy memories."

imageThe Corbett-Winder world feels like an ode to busy, joyful family life. A semi-detached house in Willesden with a mock-Tudor façade and gabled roof, it looks just like its neighbours from the outside. However, inside lies a brilliantly playful escape for Sarah, Ned, their three young children and adorable chocolate dapple dachshund, Margaret.

Review: Need a sound night's sleep? These earbuds can even cancel your neighbours

I am incredibly noise-sensitive. I have the disposition of an irritable bat, which is only exacerbated in a sleep setting. And I have neighbours whose noise is constant: coughing, kids screaming, shouting.

Shabana Mahmood faces revolt over her asylum changes

DAILY MAIL “For the millions in this country who want an end to unchecked illegal migration, Shabana Mahmood’s proposals for a Danish-style asylum system are a decent start. There are simple, commonsense tweaks to rules widely regarded as far too generous. A key sticking point will be Mahmood’s struggle to sell the proposals to her own backbenchers.
