NEWCASTLE United have been credited with an interest in signing AZ Alkmaar star Kees Smit.

The Magpies made six new signings over the summer - Nick Woltemade, Yoane Wissa, Jacob Ramsey, Aaron Ramsdale, Anthony Elanga and Malick Thiaw.
Now, they are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield when the January transfer window opens.
