NORTHUMBERLAND teacher who had a sexual relationship with a vulnerable former pupil and offered her morphine has been banned from the profession.
Married David Blight entered into a sexual relationship with the ex-pupil who was deemed vulnerable shared sexual photographs with her, and offered her morphine. He entered into a relationship with the former pupil when she was an adult and had met her at a UCAS event years after teaching her.
Earlier this year, Mr Blight faced a Teaching Regulation Agency misconduct hearing, held at Cheylesmore House in Coventry. The result of the investigation was made public in April.
The panel found that while working at Prudhoe Community High School, Mr Blight entered into a sexual relationship with the ex-pupil, who was known to have vulnerabilities, and was referred to as Pupil A.
It was found that the sexual relationship was "exploitative in that holding knowledge of the vulnerabilities would allow Mr Blight to use that to his advantage".
