Pupils relocated as school closes over safety concerns

A county councillor has said he hopes residents will issue a “warm welcome” to primary school pupils set to be temporarily relocated to his ward.

Students at Mowbray Primary School will be moved to Foundry House in Bedlington after the century-old school building was deemed unsafe.

Work to re-purpose Foundry House is expected to take several weeks, during which time pupils will be housed at a host of other schools in the area.

Reform UK councillor Trevor Austin, who represents the Bedlington East ward, admitted there was likely to be some disruption but insisted it was important to do what was best for pupils.
