A NEWCASTLE bakery which closed its doors in March has now risen risen to new challenges and reopened with a new tasty idea.
The Bakery, which launched in Chillingham Road, Heaton last autumn was forced to announce its closure in February just over four months after opening, sharing the news on Facebook that the difficult decision was made “due to the challenging economic climate, rising expenses and increasing operational costs”.
As previously reported, the community bakery blended the talents of owner Ilhan Ozcan, who runs Pizzaholic next door, and baker James Hudson and served up a mix of traditional British bakes, bread and Turkish treats.
But its last day of business was March 2 and, while thanking its customers, saying “your love for our baked goods has meant the world to us”, it also hinted of “something fresh and exciting” to come in the same location. Then all was revealed with the opening of the new Double Smash Burger, which is already receiving a very warm welcome from customers.
