Police image of suspected conman who stole purse

A police investigation has been launched after a bogus caller claimed to be pest control and stole a woman's purse from her home in Newcastle.

Officers investigating the report have released an image of a man they would like to trace.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Monday, May 19, when a man gained entry to a residential address in the Fenham area of the city.

Police say he told the victim that he was carrying out pest control work in the area and needed to access her property.
