Petrol station bid to open for 24 hours is 'lawful'

A PETROL station has submitted a proposal to extend its opening hours to operate 24 hours a day.

Sunderland City Council received an application from the Motor Fuel Group, which owns and operates the petrol filling station near Morrisons, off Lowry Road, in the Seaburn area.

The company applied for a “certificate of lawful proposed use” for the site, seeking a formal decision from the council's planning department to establish that “there are no planning restrictions which prevent the filling station from operating 24 hours”, according to council planning documents.
